Dear Member: The ISPE-DVC Education Committee is taking a new approach to our Educational Program this year. To help companies maintain employee training during the economic downturn, we are offering a monthly education series at a reduced price of $30 for members and $50 for non-members. The monthly events will take place at GSK's Upper Merion site in King of Prussia. They will each run from 5:30-9:00pm and dinner will be provided. This year's theme of training is the A/E disciplines, from piping and HVAC to electrical and controls. We are also offering a class in Technical Writing to help polish our reports and reduce review/revision time for managers. The last two sessions will act as a wrap up. In April, attendees will work in groups to apply the knowledge they gained to a simulated design scenario. The May session will cover Maintenance Excellence to discuss how we can keep our hard work running over its lifetime. The calendar link below shows the preliminary dates and locations for this year's events. We would also like to encourage cross-training by participating in multiple sessions. To help accomplish this goal; we are offering bundle package pricing: Buy 3 sessions get 1 free. Most sessions will also count toward Continuing Education Credits for PEs and CPIPs.
Looking forward to seeing you at one or more of these Education events!

| Third Session Overview |
|
The third training session of this year's Education program is "Pharmaceutical R&D Laboratory Design Through the Eyes of an Architect." This session willreview how pharmaceutical laboratories are designed from the viewpoint off an Architect, so that engineers, lab owners and lab users may begin to understand the programming, design and documentation process as seen by Architects. This session will run from 5:30PM-9:00PM on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at GSK's Upper Merion campus in King of Prussia.
This session's goals are to educate non-architects about the key issues involved in the design of complex, compliance-driven projects through a review of the design process, as well as through examples and case studies. Participants will better understand key issues in the Building Codes and design issues of Pharmaceutical R&D facilities.
The highlights of this session will be as follows:
· Introduction, Overview of the Design Characteristics of the
R & D Laboratories, and Goals for the Session
· Building and Zoning Code Issues
· Programming a Laboratory Facility
· Understanding the Different Types of Laboratories
· How to Design A Laboratory
· Substantial Design and Labs 21
· Case Studies
