Dear Member:

The ISPE-DVC Education Committee is taking a new approach to our Educational Program this year.  To help companies maintain employee training during the economic downturn, we are offering a monthly education series at a reduced price of $30 for members and $50 for non-members.

This year's theme of training is the A/E disciplines, from piping and HVAC to electrical and controls.  We are also offering a class in Technical Writing to help polish our reports and reduce review/revision time for managers.  The last two sessions will act as a wrap up.  In April, attendees will work in groups to apply the knowledge they gained to a simulated design scenario.  The May session will cover Maintenance Excellence to discuss how we can keep our hard work running over its lifetime.  The calendar link below shows the preliminary dates and locations for this year's events.

We would also like to encourage cross-training by participating in multiple sessions.  To help accomplish this goal; we are offering bundle package pricing: Buy 3 sessions get 1 free, or Buy 6 sessions get 2 free.  Most sessions will also count toward Continuing Education Credits for PEs and CPIPs.

Looking forward to seeing you at one or more of these Education events!

First Session Overview

The first training session of this year's education series will focus on the Mechanical/Piping discipline.  This session will run from 6:00PM-9:00PM on Tuesday, Oct 27, 2009 at GSK's Upper Merion campus in Conshohocken.

Joe Narwich, PE and Al Coccagna will discuss Piping Codes, Pipes, Valves, and Insulation used by the Pharmaceutical and API industries.  Piping code roots will be addressed with a particular focus on ASME 31.3.  Piping discussion will focus on steel, stainless steel, and copper piping/tubing standards, size, manufacturing, electro-polishing, passivation, joining, and P&ID's.  The Valves section will discuss selection of valve and steam traps by function, material, and type.  Insulation of mechanical systems will review function, type, and criteria for selecting insulation and vapor barriers.
